Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of PlumberFinder as a customer. By creating an account or booking through the platform, you agree to these Terms.

1. Marketplace disclosure

PlumberFinderis a technology platform that connects customers with independent plumbing professionals ("Plumbers"). PlumberFinder is not the plumbing service provider and does not perform plumbing work.

Plumbers listed on PlumberFinder are independent contractors, not employees, agents, or representatives of PlumberFinder. Your service contract for plumbing work is between you and the Plumber you select. PlumberFinder facilitates discovery, booking, messaging, and payment processing but does not guarantee the quality, timing, or outcome of any plumbing service.

2. Booking and quote process

You may submit a service request describing your plumbing need and location. Independent Plumbers may submit quotes in response. You are not obligated to accept any quote. When you accept a quote, you agree to the price, scope, and scheduling terms presented at acceptance.

Quotes may expire or become unavailable. PlumberFinder may use operational signals (such as availability, distance, and reliability) to rank or surface Plumbers but does not guarantee that any particular Plumber will respond or be available.

3. Payment authorization and capture

When you accept a quote and provide a payment method, you authorize PlumberFinder (via our payment processor, Stripe) to place a hold on your card for the quoted amount plus applicable taxes and fees shown at checkout.

  • Authorization holds: Funds may be held on your card before work is completed. A hold is not a final charge until capture occurs.
  • Delayed capture: Payment is typically captured after the job reaches a completed state per platform workflow, subject to dispute or cancellation rules.
  • Fees and taxes: Amounts displayed at checkout and in booking confirmations are binding for your transaction.

You agree to maintain a valid payment method and sufficient available credit for holds, captures, cancellation fees, and no-show fees where applicable.

4. Cancellation and refunds

Cancellation, reschedule, and no-show rules depend on timing and job status. See our Cancellation Policy for fee tiers and procedures. Amounts shown in the app at checkout and before you confirm a change always apply to your booking.

Refunds: Where a refund is due under platform rules (for example, plumber no-show or qualifying dispute resolution), refunds are processed to your original payment method or as platform credit where permitted. Processing times depend on your financial institution and Stripe. Partial refunds may apply when fees or completed work portions are non-refundable under disclosed policies.

5. Customer responsibilities

  • Provide accurate contact information, service location, and job details
  • Be available at the scheduled time or reschedule through the platform
  • Grant reasonable access to the service location for the booked work
  • Communicate promptly through in-app messaging when coordination is required
  • Report issues, disputes, or safety concerns promptly through platform tools
  • Comply with applicable laws and do not use the platform for unlawful purposes

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PlumberFinder and its affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the platform or any plumbing services performed by independent Plumbers.

PlumberFinder's total aggregate liability for claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the platform is limited to the greater of (a) fees paid by you to PlumberFinder for the booking giving rise to the claim in the twelve (12) months before the event, or (b) one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100), except where liability cannot be limited under applicable law.

Plumbing workmanship, property damage, personal injury, and regulatory compliance related to on-site work are the responsibility of the independent Plumber, not PlumberFinder.

7. Dispute process

If you have a concern about a booking, payment, fee, or service quality, use the in-app dispute and support tools where available. Provide accurate information and respond within stated deadlines. PlumberFinder may review platform records (messages, status history, payment events) to facilitate resolution but does not act as an arbitrator of workmanship disputes between you and the Plumber.

Unresolved concerns may be escalated to support@plumberfinder.ca. Chargebacks filed with your card issuer without first using platform dispute tools may result in account restrictions.

8. Account suspension and termination

PlumberFinder may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraud or abuse, created safety or legal risk, or failed to pay amounts owed. Suspension may limit booking, messaging, or payouts pending review.

You may close your account by contacting support. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including payment obligations, dispute records, and liability limits) will survive.

9. Fraud and abuse prevention

You may not misuse the platform, including: creating fake accounts; submitting false job information; circumventing platform payments; harassing Plumbers or staff; manipulating reviews; or using stolen payment methods. We may investigate suspicious activity, withhold captures or refunds pending review, and cooperate with payment processors and law enforcement where required.

10. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

11. No-show fee policy

When you accept a quote and schedule an appointment, you agree to be available at the confirmed time. If you do not show up or cancel without reasonable notice, a no-show fee may be charged from your secured payment method.

Fee amount

  • 20% of the accepted quote amount (customer total for the selected quote)
  • Capped at $100 CAD per incident

When a fee may apply

A customer no-show fee may be assessed when the assigned plumber has arrived for the scheduled visit, followed the platform's contact steps, and the customer does not respond within the review window. The plumber must document contact attempts and wait the required periods before reporting a no-show.

Plumber no-show

If the plumber does not attend a confirmed appointment, you may report it in the app. Your payment authorization is typically released rather than captured for a plumber no-show.

12. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts in Ontario, Canada have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms, subject to mandatory consumer protections that cannot be waived.

PlumberFinder may update these Terms by posting a new version and, where required, requesting re-acceptance at signup or login. The version and effective date at the top of this page identify the current customer Terms.
